"We aren't going to spend much time in our room anyway" is a comment I hear
all the time. If you really believe you will be satisfied in a tiny room with no patio or balcony and a view of the
housekeeper's cart, by all means book the lowest priced room at the resort. And if you end up in a room like
this, I guaranteeyou won'tWANT to spend any time in your room!
The fact is, the nicer your room, the more time you will spend there and the more
you will enjoy your vacation. There is nothing more relaxing than the sound of the ocean waves right outside your
room and the natural cooling of the ocean breeze. How about just the two of you enjoying cocktails and appetizers
while watching a spectacular Caribbean sunset on your own balcony. Are you an early riser and your better half
likes to sleep in? A one bedroom suite with a separate living room and bedroom may be just the ticket. And hot
coffee, fresh fruit, and pastry warm from the oven delivered to your room is a bonus!
And, if you have heard "everyone gets upgraded anyway, so book low", you should

who book low category rooms in hopes of an "upgrade" end up very disappointed. First, rooms have to be
available. Even if the resort is not sold out, the best rooms often are. Once you are at the resort, you should
be prepared to pay for any upgrades, often at a higher cost than if you has just booked it in the first

suites are the best room choice, the reality is they will not be in everyone's budget. However, you can guarantee
the minimum you will get. If an ocean view is what you really want, book oceanview. That is the least you will
get.
Fact is, the rooms with the best views, ocean or beachfront locations, private
plunge pools, jacuzzi tubs, and the most square footage tend to be Concierge level rooms and
higher.
